Logistics & Distribution Integrated ICT and Electronic Security Solution

Overview of Project

Modern logistics facilities depend on more than warehouse space and operational processes. They rely on intelligent technology infrastructure capable of supporting secure operations, real-time communication, workforce mobility, and future automation.

As part of the development of a large-scale logistics and distribution facility, Wires & Wireless, a proud member of the Agera Group, was engaged to design and deploy a fully integrated ICT and Electronic Security solution that would provide the digital backbone for the entire operation.

The objective was to create a resilient, scalable technology environment that combines enterprise connectivity, intelligent security, and centralised management into a single platform capable of supporting day-to-day warehouse operations while enabling future business growth.

Strategy & Approach

We adopted an integrated infrastructure strategy that aligned every solution with the operational requirements of a modern distribution environment. The project was built around three strategic pillars:

Enterprise ICT Infrastructure

Designing a resilient network foundation capable of supporting warehouse operations, business-critical applications, wireless mobility, and future technology expansion.

Intelligent Security

Deploying AI-enabled surveillance and integrated access control technologies that protect people, inventory, and operational assets while improving situational awareness and reducing manual intervention.

Centralised Operations

Creating a unified management environment that provides operators with complete visibility across security, connectivity, and critical infrastructure through a single platform.

Together, these pillars provide the digital foundation required for a secure, connected, and highly efficient logistics facility.

Solutions Implemented

Enterprise ICT Infrastructure

A modern warehouse depends on reliable connectivity to support mobile devices, operational systems, communications, and future automation initiatives.

The ICT infrastructure was designed to deliver high availability, scalability, and long-term performance across the entire facility.

The solution included:

  • Enterprise-grade Category 6A structured cabling infrastructure
  • High-capacity fibre optic backbone connecting critical infrastructure
  • Cisco enterprise wireless networking providing seamless warehouse-wide Wi-Fi coverage
  • Multiple communications cabinets and server room infrastructure
  • UPS systems providing resilient power protection
  • Intelligent rack power distribution and equipment management

This resilient digital foundation ensures reliable communications while providing the flexibility to support future operational growth.

AI-Driven Electronic Security

Protecting people, inventory, and operational assets requires more than traditional surveillance.

The security solution combines intelligent video analytics with advanced imaging technologies to provide proactive monitoring across the facility while significantly improving detection accuracy.

The deployment included:

  • Hikvision AcuSense intelligent cameras
  • Hikvision ColorVu technology providing full-colour imaging day and night
  • Hikvision TandemVu PTZ cameras combining panoramic surveillance with intelligent long-range tracking
  • DeepinView AI cameras supporting specialised vehicle and perimeter monitoring
  • Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology for vehicle identification and access management
  • AI-powered analytics designed to reduce nuisance alarms while improving incident detection

This layered surveillance strategy enables security teams to monitor large warehouse environments more effectively while responding rapidly to genuine security events.

Intelligent Access Control

Managing the movement of employees, contractors, visitors, and vehicles is critical within high-value logistics environments.

The integrated access control solution automates site access while maintaining secure control and complete visibility across the facility.

The solution included:

  • Biometric facial recognition readers
  • Intelligent access controllers
  • Full-height access-controlled turnstiles
  • Vehicle boom access integration
  • Centralised credential management
  • Secure management of staff, contractors, and visitors

Together, these technologies strengthen site security while improving operational flow and maintaining comprehensive audit trails.

Centralised Security Management

At the heart of the deployment is a fully integrated management platform providing operators with a single interface for monitoring and control.

The solution incorporated:

  • HikCentral Enterprise Management Platform
  • Enterprise CCTV recording with extended retention
  • AI analytics processing
  • Dedicated operator workstations
  • Enterprise storage infrastructure
  • Central monitoring displays
  • Integrated CCTV and Access Control management

By consolidating multiple systems into a unified operating environment, the solution enables faster decision-making, improved incident response, and comprehensive operational reporting.

The Outcome

The completed infrastructure provides the organisation with a secure, connected, and future-ready technology platform that supports every aspect of warehouse operations.

Reliable wireless connectivity enables mobile warehouse devices and operational teams to remain connected across the facility, while enterprise networking and resilient power infrastructure provide the stability required for business-critical applications.

Integrated AI-powered security enhances the protection of people, inventory, and operational assets through intelligent monitoring, automated access management, and centralised visibility.

Most importantly, the scalable architecture positions the facility for continued growth, supporting future automation initiatives, evolving logistics technologies, and long-term operational efficiency.

By integrating enterprise ICT infrastructure with intelligent electronic security, Wires & Wireless delivered a resilient digital backbone that enables safer operations, greater visibility, and the connected warehouse of the future.

"Technology infrastructure is no longer simply an operational necessity. It is the foundation upon which modern logistics facilities achieve efficiency, security, and long-term scalability. This project demonstrates how an integrated approach enables organisations to operate with greater confidence today while preparing for the demands of tomorrow."
